No Longer A Fan of the US Mint

Lots of collectors are not happy with the US Mint
Years ago I began collecting the American Eagle coins from the US Mint. Every year I would venture out and search for the current year Eagle coin, or even order it from the United State Mint. In the past few years it seems that the Mint is against the collectors. They have begun to limit greatly the chance to collect all of these coins. For example, last October they released a 25th anniversary set to the public, with only 100,000 available. One might think that since this production limit was so low, that they would limit the purchase to 1 per household. Did they? No! Collectors and dealers were able to diminish the coins in 4 1/2 hours ordering 5 at a time. Probably 4 of the 5 were resold at twice the price from dealers and on eBay.
You may say this is very trivial. But lets think about it. I spend over ten years of my life collecting a coin that the Mint would take away in 1 production release. This was just the final straw for this collector. Months back they sold 5oz America the beautiful coins for 279, then 229, and are currently at 204. What about all of us who paid 279 for those coins? I can't imagine how many people lost money so quickly on these coins. I was fortunate, deciding to dump the US Mint, and sell my coins, breaking about even.
On another note, lets just say you were one of the people who ordered something recently from the Mint. How many times did you call? How many times did you get kicked out of their website? I've talked to several collectors and dealers, and found no one is very happy with the Mint these days. For years now, they have been saying they were going to update their site, maybe this year for those of you who still fight to get the new coins???
Being a coin collector for so many years, I'm sad to say, US Mint proof coins are no longer on my list. Yes, I will probably still search coin rolls from my local bank, and maybe even continue to buy some state quarter's from ebay, but GOODBYE to the US Mint .
